FA CUP - Fulham (a) Draw 1-1

A good following at Fulham saw us come away with a deserved replay and the potential match up with West Ham or Manchester United.  Throughout the game, Fulham reminded us that when you give possession away against a Premier League side, it can take a while to get it back again, but in truth, it was us making the clearer chances.

For all of Fulham’s neat passing and possession, it was mostly in front of our solid defensive shape, while we always looked dangerous on the counter-attack, with Ince coming close a couple of times in the first half, while the centre pairing of Broadfoot and Baptiste were comfortably dealing with Berbatov and Ruiz.
After coming close a couple of times, Delfouneso broke from wide before laying the ball back to the supporting Sylvestre.  He calmly stroked the ball into the net to send the travelling support wild.  After that, Blackpool sat somewhat deeper but had a couple of chances to put some real daylight between the teams, with Phillips and Sylvestre coming very close to shots across goal.

It then took a wonder goal to get Fulham level, with Karagounis chesting down a cleared corner and half volleying the ball back over Gilks into the far corner.

The pleasing aspect was that we showed we can be a match for a Premier League side and will now fancy our chances on our own pitch, which won’t suit Fulham’s style.  It should be quite a night at Bloomfield Rd.  Let’s support the team in large numbers.
