Upcoming Meetings

Minutes of the meeting called at the Berkeley, Scunthorpe
Present: Phil Corbett (Chairman); Charlie Markalie (Vice Chairman); Wilf Brooks (Secretary); Sally Corbett; Eleanor Corbett; Glynn Clark; Mick Wooton; Steve Cartwright; Karen Mc Guinness; Robbie Whittaker; John Mortlock.
Apologies: Chris Walker; John Haslam; Geoff Harrison.

The meeting began at 13.00 and the Chairman welcomed Karen from Blackpool Supporters Trust (BST) and Robbie from Blackpool Away Supporters in London (BASIL) to the meeting.
This was the first trial meeting arranged within the area prior to a match, and it was difficult to know who or how many would turn up due to the atrocious start to the season.
Minutes of the Doncaster Meeting:
Minutes of the previous meeting had been read by all present and there were no objections or queries resulting. They were therefore passed as being a true record.

Membership:
It was reported that a number of people had taken up the lifetime membership option at £50 and many others had signed up to an annual subscription of £5. There were still however a number of people who had not made a commitment to either, and this was understandable under the present circumstances under which the Football Club had found itself. However, Yorkshire Seasiders was there for those of us in the Yorkshire Area and its environs and as it was now on a reasonably firm base it would be there for members when BFC came through its present difficulties.
It could be said that the club now had reasonable funds (which were there if needed) with which to function properly.

Mini Bus to Colchester and future trips.
The meeting was advised that the day trip to Colchester had been almost fully booked and in the end the cost to members had been £20 per head, which for a 480 mile round trip was not unreasonable. A stop was made near Peterborough on the way down for Breakfast and a change of drivers and a comfort stop as well as beer stop was made at Stamford on the return journey.  A small profit had been made which had been absorbed in the funds.
It was intended to run a bus to the Shrewsbury Town on Saturday 26th September and Phil would be sending out details via an email.

      Fundraising.
Phil reported that the badges had been ordered and one of the designs was due to be delivered at the match before Kick Off.  These were to be sold at £3 per badge or £2 per badge to paid up members, a saving of £1 (buy 5 and you have your membership back).
Copies of the design are again included below for recipients of the minutes to see and can be ordered from any of the above committee members.

The picture mentioned in the previous minutes had now been copied onto good quality A3 photo paper and were available at £20 per copy. It was generally agreed that they looked excellent and that a lot more could be seen in the humour than at first noticed.
It was suggested that the number be limited to 53 and each copy would be numbered. Two people made pledges to purchase and it is hoped that once advertised on the various sites, a number of sales will be made, not only to Yorkshire Seasiders. This will no doubt become a collector’s item.

A  part Copy is again produced below.

5.     Forthcoming fixtures.

Not much interest had been shown in the Gillingham Away fixture, and due to there only being one driver available it was considered unwise to run a mini bus.
Phil was going down on the train and it is worth noting that by splitting the fare a large saving had been made over the quoted return ticket.
Steve Cartwright informed the meeting that he was driving to Gillingham and had two spare seats (share of fuel money required) if anyone was interested. He can be contacted through Phil or Charlie.
Wilf was organising pubs for the Bradford game, and suggested meeting at the Fox in Shipley, which opens at 10.30, before moving on to a pub around 11.45 (an email later will confirm which one) nearer to the ground in Bradford. The Fox is a small Bar, with 6 traditional beers and various lagers as well as a good selection of foreign bottles, and is easily found as follows:
By Train – Leeds to Shipley, any train going to Skipton or Bradford Forster Square stops at Shipley. (Don’t catch the Ilkley train) Leave the station on platform one. Bear right and go down passageway between high retaining wall and flats. You will see the back entrance to the Fox to your right.
By Bus – From Bus stops in Market Square, head towards the station and follow the above route.
By Car – If you must drink and drive, the bar is on Briggate (the road to Leeds) with very limited parking behind, but a large car park at the Station.

      Bank Account.
At a committee meeting it had been arranged to set up an account with the Coop Bank, to date we had not heard anything but Phil would chase this up.
Once in operation, members would be able to use the BACS system to pay for anything they required.

           Jimmy Armfield‘s 80th Birthday celebration.
Chris Hull had contacted Charlie to advise about a forthcoming event in Blackpool on Thursday 22nd October to celebrate Jimmy’s Birthday.
Briefly, there will be a dinner, 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start, on Thursday 22nd October 2015 – the month after Jimmy’s family birthday celebrations.  A chance for us to listen to Jimmy’s thoughts and experiences of the town and country he has served all his life and the game he loves - over eight decades.  There are few who quite understand the sense of community spirit and serving as Jimmy has - giving all his life at so many different levels.
It will be a three course dinner at a suitable dining venue in Blackpool – we are looking at the possibility of the Tower Ballroom with a possible Wurlitzer performance by Jimmy.  The event will be as big as the response I get.
Fans of Jimmy, Blackpool and football are invited to what will be an intimate occasion.  Some of Jimmy’s family and footballing friends will be invited as guests, too.  Email me if you would like to join the celebration – ticket price is still to be confirmed but will probably be in the region of £35 each depending on ultimate venue etc.  Tables of ten will be available, more details will be provided if you are interested.
Yorkshire Seasiders have booked a table for ten and we hope many of you can attend.

  Friends of Yorkshire Seasiders.
Karen, from BST gave a quick and brief rundown on the elections to the BST committee, and was pleased to advise us that 66.3% of members had voted in the recent elections. As YS was now backing BST it is important that as many as possible are members of both organisations.
Robbie gave a rundown on the current situation in BASIL, and it was interesting to see how the other half, in the capital, lived. It is understood that the chairman of some years was retiring so an election would be required.
YS send their best wishes to both BST and BASIL and trust the elections run smoothly.
Both Karen and Robbie paid their £5 to become members of YS.

Any other business.
As there was no other business the meeting wound up circa 14.00.

Date and time of next meeting.
To be advised.
